Romantic Philadelphia Engagement Session Outside the Kimpton Hotel Monaco

Classic Charm and Candid Moments in the Heart of Old City Philly

If you are looking for a beautiful location for timeless and romantic engagement photos in Philadelphia, Old City is hard to beat. Julia and Seth’s morning engagement session began outside the Kimpton Hotel Monaco before we wandered through the historic streets surrounding the hotel. Between the architecture, cobblestone roads and quiet morning light, this part of Philadelphia gave us the perfect backdrop for photographs that felt romantic, effortless and completely true to them.

Although we did not photograph inside the hotel, the exterior of the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia was an incredible backdrop for Julia and Seth’s Old City engagement photos. Its elegant architecture, colorful awnings and location directly across from Independence Hall brought a refined, editorial feel to the session while still capturing the history and character of Philadelphia. For couples looking for romantic engagement photos with a polished city atmosphere, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco and the surrounding streets of Old City offer so much variety within just a few blocks.

The Best Old City Philadelphia Locations for Engagement Photos

Old City is one of my favorite areas for engagement photos in Philadelphia because there is so much variety within just a few blocks. From historic architecture and cobblestone streets to quiet corners that feel tucked away from the city, every part of the neighborhood brings something different to a session. These are a few of the Old City Philadelphia engagement photo locations we explored with Julia and Seth.

The Bank Building in Old City Philadelphia

Located beside the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, The Bank Building is one of the most beautiful backdrops for engagement photos in Old City Philadelphia. Its white facade, ornate ironwork and symmetrical architecture create a clean, classic setting that photographs beautifully. It has an almost European feel while still fitting perfectly into the historic character of Philadelphia.

Second Bank of the United States Engagement Photos

The Second Bank of the United States Portrait Gallery is one of the most striking locations for engagement photos in Old City Philadelphia. Its towering columns, wide stone steps and neoclassical architecture create a stately, cinematic backdrop that works especially well with formal outfits. The clean lines and grand scale also add depth and variety to an engagement gallery without feeling overly dramatic.

From there, we wandered through Old City’s cobblestone alleys and historic side streets during the soft morning light. Each corner gave us something different, from warm brick and charming textures to sweeping architectural lines, allowing Julia and Seth’s Philadelphia engagement photos to feel varied while still telling one cohesive story.

American Philosophical Society Engagement Photos at Benjamin Franklin Hall

Benjamin Franklin Hall at the American Philosophical Society is another beautiful location for engagement photos in Old City Philadelphia. Its stone columns, tall windows and classic architecture create a quiet, refined backdrop that feels elegant without being overly formal. The light reflects beautifully throughout the space, making it especially well suited for timeless portraits and more intimate moments between a couple.

What to Wear for an Old City Philadelphia Engagement Session

Julia and Seth chose classic, neutral outfits that paired beautifully with the historic architecture throughout Old City. Soft colors, tailored pieces and subtle movement photograph especially well in a city setting, adding interest without competing with the surroundings. Her flowing sleeves and his structured blazer gave their Philadelphia engagement photos a polished, timeless look while still feeling natural and true to them.
